Modiano

We absolutely adore these graphics. And though we are nonsmokers, we hasten to remind our gentle reader that in the 1920s cigarettes were free of the harsh chemical additives so prevalent in today's commercially manufactured smokes. Thus we see how the evils of capitalism are the true carcinogens.

not unlike the gabor dolls and the cosmetics line fabulon, modiano comes from my home country, hungary. you see: a true treasure trove in the heart of europe.

The only time I'm tempted to smoke is when I see graphics like these, or a vintage cigarette case.

It always comes back to the accessories.

If you like these I recommend Steven Heller's book Euro Deco which is a great compendium of Deco style from different countries between the wars. I have a feeling one of these might be in the book somewhere.
