Sir Noël

I believe
that since my life began,
the most I've had is just
a talent to amuse...

I've never been able to figure out whether he was the happiest sad person I've ever heard about, or the saddest happy man. In any case, he is not nearly adored enough these days.

All I have to say is "Don't put your daughter on the stage, Mrs. Worthington!"

Well, at least he had SOME talent. And to amuse, well, that's a great talent indeed.

I wrote a really BAAAAAD short story in prep school, about two teen lovers, one of whom I modeled after Noel Coward.

Have I mentioned that I was a strange child?

I'm listening to "Sail Away" (with Elaine Stritch) and "High Spirits" (with Tammy Grimes) a lot lately...two great, underrated, early 60's Coward musicals.
